Delete your account and your data

You can delete your Yoon Fret account and the data attached to it, at any time and without giving a reason — subject to the legal obligations described below.

How to delete your account

You can delete your Yoon Fret account at any time, without giving a reason. There are two routes, whichever you prefer:

  • Yourself, in the app or on the website, once signed in: Profile → Delete my account. You confirm with your password, and the deletion takes effect immediately.
  • By writing to privacy@yoonfret.africa from the email address linked to the account, with the words “account deletion”. If you write from another address, we will ask you to confirm your identity (OTP to the registered number) before acting.

Removing the app from your phone erases no data on our servers. You have to make the request.

Is deletion always possible?

Yes, as soon as nothing is left in progress between you and Yoon. Until then, deletion is refused and the app tells you why:

  • No mission may be in progress — awaiting payment, in transit, in escrow or in dispute. It must first be closed or cancelled: deletion cannot be used to disappear in the middle of a transport.
  • Your wallet balance must have been withdrawn to your Mobile Money account.
  • No transfer to you (withdrawal or refund) and no freight advance may be in progress.

Deleting only part of the data

You do not have to delete everything in order to remove what bothers you. From the app, without writing to us and without giving a reason:

  • An obsolete KYC document can be replaced; the previous one is no longer viewable.
  • Notifications can be switched off, which deletes your device’s token.
  • Position sharing outside missions is already off by default.

What is erased

When the account is deleted, the following are permanently removed:

  • Your account: first name, last name, email address, phone, password. Your number is released and can be used for a new sign-up.
  • Your sessions, and your devices’ notification tokens: no more sign-ins or notifications.
  • Your drivers’ contact details, and the vehicles in your fleet.
  • Your offers still open, which are cancelled, and your pending quotes, which are withdrawn.
  • GPS positions sent outside a past mission (in principle none is recorded outside missions).
  • Your name, wherever other users could see it: it is replaced by “Compte supprimé” (deleted account).

What is retained, and why

DataReason and period
Invoicing documents and transactionsOHADA accounting regulation requires them to be kept for ten years. These documents cover only the amounts and identifiers needed for accounting traceability.
KYC documentsAnti-money-laundering regulation (BCEAO) requires them to be kept for five years after the end of the business relationship. They are accessible only to the compliance team, upon a lawful request or in the event of an audit.
History of completed missionsKept for ten years, like invoicing data, and attached to an account that has become anonymous: the user’s name in it is replaced by “Compte supprimé” (deleted account).
GPS positions during missionsTwelve months from each mission. They concern only the vehicle and not the person.
Access logTwelve months. This retention guarantees that no access to your data goes unnoticed.

Timing

From the app or the website, deletion takes effect immediately once you confirm with your password: you are signed out of all your devices, and the screen confirms the deletion. A request made by email is handled within 30 days at the latest, once your identity is confirmed. In both cases, backup copies are purged within 30 days at the latest.

Once the deletion is done, the account can no longer be restored: a new sign-up and a new KYC verification are needed to use the service again.
